Sri Lanka Ready for Sanya 2026 Asian Beach Games
The sixth edition of the Asian Beach Games 2026 is set to take place from April 22 to 30 in the coastal city of Sanya, marking the long-awaited return of the continental beach multi-sport festival after nearly a decade.
Bringing together athletes from across Asia, the Games will feature a vibrant mix of beach and water-based disciplines, with over 40 nations expected to compete in a celebration of sport, culture, and coastal competition.
Sri Lanka will be among the participating nations, sending a strong and diverse contingent to represent the island on the international stage. The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka has confirmed that a total of 109 members will travel for the Games, including 77 athletes made up of 40 men and 37 women.
The Sri Lankan team is set to compete in eight disciplines: beach athletics, beach kabaddi, beach handball, beach volleyball, 3×3 basketball, open water swimming, beach wrestling, and sailing. These events highlight the nation’s growing involvement in beach and aquatic sports, which continue to gain popularity across Asia.
Officials have expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and ability to perform at a high level. The delegation includes experienced coaches, support staff, and medical personnel, ensuring athletes are well-equipped for the demanding conditions of beach competition.
