In a major development for Sri Lankan cricket, the Minister of Sports has officially accepted the resignation of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President Shammi Silva and the Executive Committee.
The decision marks a significant turning point in the governance of the country’s cricket administration amid ongoing concerns surrounding the sport’s management and structure.
According to an official statement, under the powers vested in the Minister through Sections 31 and 34 of the Sports Law No. 25 of 1973, all administrative functions of Sri Lanka Cricket will be temporarily brought under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, effective immediately.
The Ministry further announced that a special committee will be appointed shortly to examine the current issues affecting cricket in the country and to introduce necessary structural reforms.
