Sri Lanka Clinches Double Podium Finish in Women’s Long Jump at Sanya 2026
Sri Lanka opened its medal account in style at the Asian Beach Games 2026, with a strong showing in the women’s long jump event during the beach athletics programme in Sanya.
The highlight of the day came in the women’s long jump final, where Sri Lanka secured both silver and bronze medals against a competitive Asian field. Ishara Samanmali delivered an impressive leap of 5.87m to clinch the silver medal, showcasing consistency and composure on the sand.
Close behind her was compatriot Sashikala Lankathilaka, who secured the bronze medal with a jump of 5.83m, ensuring a double podium finish for Sri Lanka in the event.
According to the final results, Vietnam’s Ha Thi Thuy Hang claimed gold with a leading mark of 6.16m. Sri Lanka’s silver and bronze finishes were followed closely by Vietnam’s Vu Thi Ngoc Ha (5.81m) and China’s Chen Liwen (5.72m), underlining the high standard of competition.
