The tour will begin with a three-match ODI series at Sabina Park before moving into a three-match T20I contest at the same venue. After a warm-up fixture in Coolidge, both teams will meet in a two-match Test series at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

Important Tour for Sri Lanka

The Caribbean tour will provide Sri Lanka with a major test away from home. Conditions in the West Indies are often very different from those in Sri Lanka, with quicker pitches, extra bounce and humid weather expected to challenge both batters and bowlers.

Sri Lanka have traditionally been strong at home, but victories in the Caribbean have been harder to achieve. The 2026 series therefore represents an important opportunity for the Sri Lankan side to prove that it can compete consistently overseas.

The ODI and T20I matches will also be especially important with international teams continuing to prepare for future ICC events. Strong performances in white-ball cricket could help Sri Lanka build momentum and confidence ahead of upcoming global tournaments.

Sabina Park to Host White-Ball Action

All six white-ball matches will be played at Sabina Park, giving both teams the chance to settle into the same conditions throughout the ODI and T20I leg of the tour.

Sabina Park has long been one of the most famous cricket venues in the Caribbean. Known for its lively atmosphere and fast surface, the ground is expected to provide exciting contests between Sri Lanka’s batting line-up and the West Indies pace attack.

For Sri Lanka, adapting quickly to the pitch and weather could be the key to success. The team’s top-order batters will likely need to provide strong starts, while the bowlers must find ways to contain the powerful West Indies batting order.

Test Series Could Decide the Tour

While the shorter formats are likely to attract major attention, the two-match Test series may ultimately become the highlight of the entire tour.

The opening Test will be played from June 25 to 29, while the second and final Test is scheduled for July 3 to 7 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

Test cricket in the Caribbean is always a unique challenge. Sri Lanka’s batters will have to deal with long spells from the West Indies fast bowlers, while the visitors’ spin attack may become increasingly important later in the matches.

The Sir Vivian Richards Stadium is expected to offer a more balanced wicket than Sabina Park, creating the possibility of closely fought matches. If the limited-overs series is evenly contested, the Tests could become the decisive stage of the tour.

Fans Excited for Renewed Rivalry

Cricket fans in both Sri Lanka and the West Indies are already looking forward to the series. Encounters between the two teams have often produced memorable moments, particularly in T20 cricket where both sides are known for their aggressive style.

Supporters will also be eager to see which young players emerge during the tour. By 2026, both Sri Lanka and the West Indies are expected to have several new faces in their squads alongside their experienced stars.

With nine matches across five weeks, the tour promises plenty of drama, entertainment and high-quality cricket. Sri Lanka will hope to return home with strong results, while the West Indies will aim to make the most of home advantage.

Whatever the outcome, Sri Lanka tour of West Indies is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated cricket series of the year.
