Ningbo-Colombo Dialogue on Cultural Construction in Port City Development
Representatives from China and Sri Lanka came together for a high-level dialogue focused on strengthening cultural exchanges and promoting sustainable development between the historic port cities of Ningbo and Colombo.
Ningbo and Colombo, both renowned for their rich cultural heritage and strategic maritime significance, share a long-standing connection as prominent port cities. Ningbo is home to the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, the world’s largest port by cargo throughput and a key starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road. Meanwhile, Colombo Port serves as one of the Indian Ocean’s most important transshipment hubs and a vital maritime gateway to South Asia.
Held under the theme “Cultural Construction in the Development of Port Cities,” the dialogue provided a platform for experts, officials, and stakeholders from both countries to exchange ideas on enhancing cultural cooperation while fostering sustainable urban and economic development.
Discussions focused on several key areas, including the integrated development of ports, industries, cities, and culture; the preservation and innovation of maritime civilization; and strengthening international cultural communication. Participants emphasized the importance of mutual learning between port cities and the role of cultural collaboration in supporting high-quality, sustainable development.
A significant highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ningbo International Communication Center (NICC) and the Sri Lanka Sports Journalists Association (SLSJA). The agreement is expected to enhance media cooperation, facilitate professional exchanges between journalists, and promote greater collaboration in international communication and cultural engagement between the two organizations.
Another key milestone was the signing of an MoU between the Ningbo International Communication Center (NICC) and LN Sports, one of Sri Lanka’s leading digital sports news platforms. The partnership aims to strengthen collaboration in sports media, expand international content exchange, and promote closer cooperation in digital journalism and cross-border communication, further enhancing media ties between Sri Lanka and China.
The dialogue reaffirmed the shared commitment of Ningbo and Colombo to deepening bilateral ties through cultural exchange, maritime heritage preservation, and collaborative initiatives that contribute to sustainable development and stronger people-to-people connections.

භාණ්ඩ ප්රවාහනය අතින් ලොව විශාලතම වරාය වන සහ පුරාණ සමුද්ර සේද මාර්ගයේ වැදගත් ආරම්භක ස්ථානයක් වන නිම්බෝ-ෂෝෂාන් වරාය කලාපයේ ප්රධානතම වරායක් ලෙසත්,ඉන්දියානු සාගරයේ ප්රධාන ප්රතිනැව්ගත කිරීමේ මධ්යස්ථානයක් ලෙස කොළඹ වරායත් හැඳින්වෙන අතර දකුණු ආසියාව සඳහා අත්යවශ්ය සමුද්රීය දොරටුවක් ලෙස මෙම කේන්ද්රස්ථාන දෙක හඳුනාගෙන තිබෙන බවයි මෙම උත්සවයේ ප්රධාන ආරාධිත අමුත්තා ලෙස එක්වුණු ශ්රී ලංකාවේ චීන තානාපතිතුමන් ප්රකාශ කළේ..
වරාය නගර දෙක අතර සංස්කෘතික හුවමාරු සහ තිරසාර සංවර්ධනය සඳහා සහයෝගීතාව තවදුරටත් ශක්තිමත් කිරීමේ අරමුණින්, මෙම සංවාදය “වරාය නගර සංවර්ධනයේ සංස්කෘතික ඉදිකිරීම්” යන තේමාව ඔස්සේ ක්රියාත්මක වුණු අතර ඊට විශේෂ ආරාධිත අමුත්තිය ලෙස කොළඹ මහ නගර සභාවේ නගරාධිපති ව්රායි කැලී බල්තසාර් මහත්මිය එක්ව සිටියා. වරාය නගර අතර අන්යෝන්ය ඉගෙනීම සහ උසස් තත්ත්වයේ තිරසාර සංවර්ධනය ප්රවර්ධනය කිරීමේ අරමුණින්, වරාය, කර්මාන්ත, නගරය සහ සංස්කෘතිය ඒකාබද්ධ සංවර්ධනය, සමුද්රීය ශිෂ්ටාචාරය සංරක්ෂණය සහ නවෝත්පාදනය සහ ජාත්යන්තර සංස්කෘතික සන්නිවේදනය වැනි මාතෘකා පිළිබඳ ගැඹුරු හුවමාරුව සඳහා එය වේදිකාවක් සපයනු ඇති බවයි මෙම වැඩසටහනේ සංවිධාන සහයෝගයට උරදෙන ශ්රී ලංකා – චීන සමාජ හා සංස්කෘතික සහයෝගිතා සංගමයේ සභාපති ඉන්ද්රානන්ද අබේසේකර මහතා ප්රකාශ කළේ.
සාම්ප්රදායික චීන අත්කම් නිර්මාණ ඇතුළත් ප්රදර්ශනයක් ද මෙහිදී පැවති අතර චීනය ශ්රී ලංකාව අතර ක්රීඩා මධ්යවේදීන්ගේ අත්දැකීම්, දැනුම සහ තාක්ෂණය හුවමාරු කර ගැනීම සඳහා තෙවසරක කාලයක් සඳහා වූ ගිවිසුමකට අත්සන් තැබීමද මෙහිදී සිදුකෙරුණා. ඒ සඳහා ශ්රී ලංකා ක්රීඩා මාධ්යවේදීන්ගේ සංගමයේ ප්රධාන ලේකම් රාම් ක්රිෂ්, භාණ්ඩාගාරික සම්පත් සී. පෙරේරා ඇතුළු පිරිසක්ද එක්ව සිටියා.
